In Hévíz you can refresh yourself not only in body but also in mind. During a pleasant afternoon stroll, it's worth visiting the Hévíz Museum Collection, located on the upper floor of the Fontana Cinema on the pedestrian street.
A permanent exhibition presenting the history of Hévíz opened in March 2012, showcasing the history of the settlement from the formation of the lake right up to the present day, the development of the thermal lake and the town, as well as numerous interesting medical and therapeutic relics. A significant part of the objects on display come from private collectors, but many pieces were also received from the collection of the Helikon Palace Museum in Keszthely. The oldest item in the town's first permanent exhibition is a 1,500-year-old ceramic vessel, and perhaps the most special is an English book published in 1818, which its author, Count Richard Brighton, presented to György Festetics, the then owner of Lake Hévíz.
The Museum's other permanent exhibition: "The diploma graphics of Katalin Szalay".
In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum also hosts temporary exhibitions.
The building's exterior façade is decorated by "Forrás" (Spring), a work by Munkácsy Prize-winning ceramic artist János Németh.
For those who come to Hévíz for a longer period and to whom culture matters during their spa cure, we recommend the City Library, where both Hungarian and foreign-language books can be borrowed.
