Beschreibung:
The Georgikon (1797–1848) was the first independent institution of higher agricultural education founded in Europe. The Georgikon farm provided the conditions for practical training and experimental farming for the institution. Since 1972, the Georgikon farm has been part of the Hungarian Museum of Agriculture and is a listed monument counted among the country's significant memorial sites. Today, the old farm buildings house exhibitions and collections richly furnished with objects from agricultural history. Among its highlights are the country's oldest tractor – a working HSCS crude-oil tractor manufactured in 1924 – and an equally functional, hundred-year-old Fowler twin-engine steam plough. In 2013, an experience farm was created in the museum's garden, where a poultry yard, units presenting crop plants, and play and rest areas await visitors. From spring to autumn, numerous programmes and events enrich the museum's offering.
