The protective forest is not only important for wildlife — it doesn't merely cool, provide shade and produce oxygen. This Hévíz protective forest is also indispensable for the microclimate of Lake Hévíz, since it protects the lake from the northern wind, from dust and from rapid cooling. It provides such clean air that it improves not only one's state of health and well-being, but can also contribute effectively to faster recovery — and so the microclimate here is present in Hévíz as a natural healing factor.

On an area of 35 hectares, more than 20,000 saplings were planted, a 2.5 km long nature trail was created in the "lower" and "upper" forest, and the 15 m high tree-canopy lookout was built.
