Pedestrian street
Rákóczi utca functions as a pedestrian street along its entire length. This street connects Széchenyi utca (the main street) with the dr. Schulhof Vilmos promenade.
At the beginning of the pedestrian street is the Tourinform Office, on the right-hand side coming from Széchenyi utca. The office welcomes visitors all year round with recommendations for local programmes and tourist information. Bicycle rental is also available at the office.
Continuing along the pedestrian street towards the Lake Bath, among the boutiques, cafés and ice cream parlours, it is worth paying attention to the buildings hidden behind the trees as well. The pedestrian street is lined with villas built in the 1920s, which today, in renovated form, house apartments and cafés.
In the middle of the pedestrian street we find the building of the Fontana Cinema, and opposite it the Dr. Károly Moll Sr. Square, with a fountain and, behind it, a full-figure bronze statue of Károly Moll. Károly Moll was the "father" of the weight bath (underwater traction therapy), which he developed in Hévíz in the 1950s.
At the end of the street we find ourselves facing the building of the Indoor Bath. The Therapy Centre, which the locals call the Indoor Bath, was opened in 1968. It was renovated in 2004 and has been continuously expanded and further developed ever since. On its outer wall the Pantheon can be seen, and in its lobby is the Jupiter stone, which proves that people already lived here 2,000 years ago.
