Town Hall
The new building of the Hévíz Town Hall, built in 1998–99, is an architectural attraction, the foundation stone of which was laid by the mayor of the time and by Bertalan Farkas — space research engineer, brigadier general and Hungary's first astronaut.
The building, one of Hévíz's important sights, was built in 1950, behind the village hall of the time. Reconstruction work began in 1997. The foundation stone was laid on 31 January 1998 by Bertalan Farkas, Hungary's first astronaut, and the mayor of the town. The plans were prepared by László Benczúr and Péter Takács, under the coordination of Kossuth Prize-winning architect Péter Reinholz.
The building's usable floor area: 3,367 m².
The building houses the staff of the Mayor's Office, who receive clients on every working day. The southern wing accommodates a conference and theatre hall with a capacity of 200 people, which, besides council sessions, hosts scientific, cultural and other events.
