Véderdő, park
Lake Hévíz is surrounded by a protective forest and a park. Setting off from Deák tér (Deák Square), those wishing to take a walk can choose from numerous trails.
The protective forest is an important part of the lake's ecological system. The main tree species of the forest is the common alder, but its most special tree species is the bald cypress. The interesting thing about the bald cypress is that, unlike other conifers, it does not keep its green foliage through the winter months.
In autumn, the leaves of the bald cypress turn bronze, dressing the road leading into the town in an orange-bronze hue. By spring, the forest turns green again.
Walking in the forest, we can encounter numerous bird species, and if we are lucky, we can even feed squirrels.
